The newly opened shop — located just steps from the pumps — sells a variety of food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owners say you can call ahead and bring home a dinner that was prepared in the commercial kitchen.

The ribbon-cutting was held last week for the new home of Mitchell's New Country Store and Gas Station on Route 58 near Putnam Memorial State Park.

The spacious new store — designed to look like a barn and painted in a country red — replaces the old small stone structure.

Mitchell's has been serving the Bethel community with its energy products and HVAC services since 1945. In addition, it has sold gasoline, diesel and convenience items at its store at 124 Putnam Park Road since the early 1970s.

"We are very excited to announce the recent opening of the Mitchell Country Store and Gas Station at this Putnam Park location. The new store features a cafe that serves customers all day long and offers a variety of freshly made meal options and groceries," the owners said.
