BETHEL, Conn. — Come in where it's cool and meet authors as they sign their books during the day on Saturday, July 16, at Byrd's Books, 126 Greenwood Ave. The event is part of the Bethel Summerfest & Sidewalk Sale.

Here is the lineup:

  • From 10 a.m. to noon: TaNesha Barnes, contributor: "Why Black Lives Matter (Too): A Revolutionary Call to Action" Book Summary : The Black Lives Matter movement evolved as a protest against police brutality against unarmed black men. This book extends beyond police brutality to revolutionize the national conversation about racial injustice and inequality and advocate for freedom and justice for all black Americans. All proceeds will benefit The Sentencing Project, a leader in the effort to bring national attention to disturbing trends and inequities in the criminal justice system through the publication of groundbreaking research, aggressive media campaigns and strategic advocacy for policy reform.
  • 10 a.m. to noon: Sharon Struth, "Harvest Moon" Book review : "It was sweet and romantic. The characters complimented each other wonderfully. Trent and Veronica make the perfect couple. From heartbreak to love. The parts of Ry and Etta were a perfect way to bring them together without them realizing until later. The scenery was beautiful and the story was well written. I loved reading their story."
  • Noon to 2 p.m.: Jim Malloy, "Look Cookers" About the book : The Look Cookers is an engaging story of Matthew, a shy little boy with a very big imagination. He doesn't like eye contact - and he thinks anyone who looks his way is a Look Cooker. He's given each type of Look Cooker a name: Glance Dancers, Blink Drinkers, Gawk Stalkers and more! Matthew pretends to be a secret agent - an eye spy - to overcome his shyness. His trusty backpack and top-secret spy device help him succeed on his first mission - riding the bus on his first day of school.
  • 2 to 4 p.m.: Donna Rooney, "DANI and the Day the Bully Changed Everything" About the Book : When Dani witnesses a brutal bullying of a popular boy on the school playground, her world is knocked upside down. Through a dream, Dani s beloved farm animals become lifelike and are presented with a similar problem a new bull (bully) on their farm. For the first time the animals find themselves bystanders to a vicious attack, which drastically changes the farm s loving climate as well as each of their personalities. They wrestle with how they can end the bullying and take back their farm, without becoming the next victim. A creative approach to stop bullying is implemented, and no one knows who will need it next.
