NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Beautiful babies from across the area can help raise funds for a local wounded solider in need of a home, and compete for a chance to be in the Newtown Labor Day Parade.
During the contest at the Stop & Shop Supermarket, the public votes for the cutest baby picture with dollar bills. The child whose photo raises the most amount of money for charity wins the contest and is featured in the Newtown Labor Day Parade.
Voters can see the baby photos in a wooden voting booth that holds 56 photos. The booth has a slit for each photo, where voters can donate checks or cash for the cause.
One hundred percent of the money raised by the contest will be donated to Homes for Our Troops for a handicap house being built in West Haven, for 22-year-old Sean Pesce, an Army Ranger returning home with severe life-altering injuries.
It is not too late to enter a photo of babies newborn to four years old. Winning babies don't have to live in Newtown.
Entry fee is a $10 check donation made payable to “Homes For Our Troops." Mail checks and a four inch by four inch or wallet photo with child’s name and contact email and phone number written clearly on the back to: Baby Contest C/O Lois Barber 33 Zoar Road, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.
All information on the back of the photo is blacked out with permanent marker before the voting booth goes to Stop & Shop or any other location. Please call 203-270-8017 or email email@example.com for more information.
