Chip's Family Restaurant In Fairfield, Trumbull Vies For DVlicious Win

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- We get it. You like to eat. And you like to eat out. But dining with kids, especially young ones -- can sometimes get sticky -- in more ways than one. Kudos to the places that offer up pleasing menus for both adults and kids as well as surroundings that don’t feel like you’re dining at Mickey D’s.

Yay, pancakes! Breakfast can be had any time of the day at Chip's Family Restaurant in Fairfield. The family-friendly local chain also has locations in Orange, Trumbull, Southbury and Wethersfield.

Chip’s Family Restaurant, Fairfield, Trumbull

Why It's Kid Worthy: A family-owned local chain, Chip’s has two locations in Fairfield County, and three others elsewhere in Connecticut. According to co-owners George "Georgie" Chatzopoulos and Dana Bajko, Chip’s is a family restaurant where “everything is homemade." "That’s what makes the difference,” they say.

While Chip’s has raked in accolades about its light and fluffy wheat, buttermilk or gluten-free pancakes and waffles, the eatery also has an extensive menu of Greek and American diner dishes, like meatloaf and souvalki. There are 40 kinds of pancakes, including kiddie favs peanut butter and banana, cinnamon raisin, German apple, Choc-a-holic and toasted coconut. Kids’ meals (for 11 and under) come with juice and the choice of a side (mandarin oranges, fresh apple slices, strawberries, broccoli or carrots). The little ones can get mini pancakes, hot dogs, grilled cheese sammies, burgers, eggs and bacon, mac and cheese. And around the holidays, the Easter bunny or Santa may make an appearance, much to the delight of young customers. Needless to say, breakfast is served all day.
