Usually held in the Conti Building downtown, the first Downtown Handmade Market…Around Town will take place Feb. 11 and 12 at the Valley United Way, 54 Grove St.

This special market will focus on shopping local and giving local as Celebrate Shelton encourages attendees to make a donation to the leading nonprofit in the community, the Valley United Way.

Valley United Way works in Shelton, Derby, Seymour, Ansonia and Oxford to strengthen families, support senior citizens, help people in crisis, and prepare youth to succeed.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the Downtown Handmade Market will feature artisan vendors — from handmade soaps to one-of-a-kind jewelry and gifts for both men and women. There will also be a mini-chocolate tasting and Make-Your-Own-Valentines for children.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

On Feb. 11, there will be live music from Elle Sera and Sara Jadbabaie & Oriana Mack. Artisan vendors will include Bead Dangle Design, Blue Lotus Bracelets, BringtheHoopla, Draw The Line Apparel, Kilbride Creations, KP Jewelry, Look & Sea, Oronoque Farms, Raven & The Rose Handcrafted Soaps, Stock the Bar Candles, The Glass Source Stained Glass Studio, The Little Dog Laughed and TJJ Sews. There will be a mini-chocolate tasting with GROW and Common Bond Market, as well as mini-tarot readings with Sally Russo.

On Feb. 12, Nicole Thompson and Benny Mikula/The Lone Gnome will be performing. Artisan vendors include Anthony Videira Fine Art, Bead Dangle Design, BringtheHoopla, Kilbride Creations, KP Jewelry, Look & Sea, Raven & The Rose Handcrafted Soaps, Reid's BBQ Sauce, Stock the Bar Candles, Suki Design, The Glass Source Stained Glass Studio and Welcome Relaxation.
