Southport Galleries’ “Picture Southport” exhibition featuring many local scenes in photographs and paintings is running through Christmas.

The exhibition includes photography from Southport’s own Andrew Smith. As a child, Smith wandered through the village with his Brownie Hawkeye, taking photos he tried to sell to local newspapers.

Since then, he’s amassed a treasure trove of Southport images and won first prize honors in the 2014 Fairfield Museum and History Center’s Images Competition.

Also included is American fine artist Rob Brooks, a contemporary American painter who is taking a fresh look at Social Realism. Born in Springfield, Mass., Brooks has been a full-time artist for 26 years.

The third featured artist is Donald Sigovich, who has spent his entire career in fine art printing and graphic arts photography.

Since 1991, he has worked in Westport, concentrating on large format, flatbed scanning for image capture and state-of-the-art printers for reproduction.

Southport Galleries is at 330 Pequot Avenue, Southport. For more information, call 203-292-6124.
