Down 8-6 in the top of the ninth inning, the Danbury Fire Department rallied for 3 runs to take the lead. They held off the Danbury Police Department for a 9-8 win in the teams' annual charity softball game.
Ryan Howley homered for the police department while the fire department was led by Reed Boullianne, who pitched all nine innings, and "Home Plate Hines," who spanked three hits.
This year's game was different than previous years as the teams played to open the 1st Annual Thomas "Moose" Lynch Memorial Softball Tournament. Before the game, a ceremony was held to honor Lynch for his dedication to the softball community in Danbury by naming Field 2 after him.

Both teams played with heavy hearts as the Danbury Fire Department honored Lynch, a 30-year veteran firefighter who died in April, and the Danbury Police Department honored Sgt. Drew Carlson, who died last week and was buried Friday morning.
The Thomas "Moose" Lynch Foundation helps to support the Lynch Family.
