FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Patricia Boyd of Fairfield was named the president of the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County at its recent annual dinner.

Boyd has been a member of the organization for six years and has served on numerous committees, including New Membership Engagement, where she recruited women in the community to join the JLEFC; Helping Hands, where she spent numerous hours working directly with children at Thomas Hooker School in Bridgeport and coordinating meals for Operation Hope; and as chair of the Art Show, a JLEFC spring fundraiser.

Boyd lives in Fairfield with her husband, Mike, and their son, Henry.

“I am delighted to serve as the President of the JLEFC during its 96th year. We plan to continue our many important initiatives, including our 'Healthy Families, Healthy Futures' programs,'' Boyd said. "The purpose of the programs is to increase the physical and developmental health of young children by focusing on literacy, family connections, healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, to better prepare children in the Bridgeport area to succeed in school."

Boyd said the Junior League will hosts its third annual 5k run/walk and new member open houses in the fall. Details will be announced on the Junior League website in August.

The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County supports Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Newtown, Redding, Shelton, Southport, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, and Westport.
