NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Ricci’s Salon & Spa in Newtown is hosting a cut-a-thon on Sunday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help a disabled vet get a new home.

This is a fundraiser for 22-year-old Army Ranger Sean Pesce from West Haven who returned from Afghanistan with life-altering injuries. Pesce was shot 13 times, sustaining damage to several major organs, with one bullet severing his spine. He is now permanently paralyzed from the waist down.

He is on the wait list to receive a custom handicap house through "Homes For Our Troops," a national nonprofit that builds handicapped-accessible houses for young disabled military at no cost to the solider.

All hairstylists are donating their time for free to help raise money for Pesce’s house to be built in West Haven.

Men’s barber haircuts cost $20, women’s haircut and blow-dry cost $25, women who are don’t need a cut but want to donate can get their hair blow dried for $15.

This statewide fundraiser receives help from other people in all towns signing on for haircuts.

Call 203-426-1611 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome all day.

Ricci’s Salon & Spa is at 99 S. Main St. Newtown, in the South Marketplace Plaza.
