BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel officials are warning residents of a phone scam being conducted by someone who claims to work for Eversource.
Several Bethel residents have received calls from someone claiming to be from Eversource, telling them that their payment is past due and that their power is about to be shut off. The Bethel Police Department is advising residents that they should not trust the caller or any phone number they give you, as they may be part of the scam.
If you receive such a call, hang up and call the customer service number that appears on the Eversource website on your own to check your account.
