FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Much of Fairfield County spent Monday cleaning up from a powerful nor'easter that slammed the area.

A number of school districts were closed, and downed trees and power lines blocked roads across the county.

And a mudslide and collapse of a giant woodpile onto the tracks in Wilton stopped Metro-North train service on the Danbury Branch for much of the day.

But despite the work, hundreds of people were still without power Tuesday morning. And although Eversource said it had restored power to more than 200,000 customers statewide, more work needed to be done.

With larger outages on the eastern side of the side, Eversource called in more than 200 additional crews from out-of-state through its mutual aid network to help.

Eversource also warned residents that it could take "multiple days" to make all the repairs.

As of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the following power outages were reported by Eversource and United Illuminating in Fairfield County:

  • Bethel: 1,896 customers
  • Bridgeport: 59 customers
  • Brookfield: 167 customers
  • Danbury: 259 customers
  • Darien: 24 customers
  • Easton: 12 customers
  • Fairfield: 103 customers
  • Greenwich: 46 customers
  • Monroe: 174 customers
  • New Canaan: 778 customers
  • New Fairfield: 71 customers
  • Newtown: 459 customers
  • Norwalk: 72 customers
  • Redding: 194 customers
  • Ridgefield: 853 customers
  • Shelton: 57 customers
  • Sherman: 136 customers
  • Stamford: 69 customers
  • Stratford: 18 customers
  • Trumbull: 8 customers
  • Weston: 63 customers
  • Westport: 232 customers
  • Wilton: 230 customers

It was not known when all the power outages would be restored.
