The two-car crash occurred at about 11:35 a.m. Tuesday on Mt. Pleasant Road/Route 6 at Taunton Lane, Newtown police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde said.

The preliminary investigation found that a 2005 Buick driven by Terrelle Anderson, 32, of Bridgeport crossed over the double yellow center line, Bahamonde said.

His westbound car slammed into a 2016 GMC Terrain SLT driven by Forest Herron, 86, of Southbury, who was traveling in the opposite direction, he said.

Both drivers and Delores Hake, a passenger in Herron's car, were transported to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries, Bahamonde said.

Hake was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital.

The drivers were unable to provide information about the crash due to their injuries, he said.

The accident is still under investigation, Bahamonde said.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Officer John McCluskey at the Newtown Police Department at 203-426-5841.
