Cops: Newtown Man Seen Exposing Himself On I-84 Ramp Busted On Drug Charge

NEWTOWN, Conn. — A Newtown man who allegedly exposed himself to motorists while drunk on I-84 in New York is facing a litany of charges after being busted with cocaine, New York state police said.

New York State Police troopers received complaints of a man exposing himself to traffic on the Exit 21 ramp on I-84 in Patterson at 10 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, troopers said that 51-year-old Leonardo Fregoso was found impaired by alcohol at the exit, with his vehicle stopped on Danbury Road. An investigation into the incident found that Fregoso was in possession of .63 grams of cocaine and was the suspect accused of exposing himself on the exit ramp, state police said.

Fregoso was arrested and charged with a felony count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as driving while intoxicated, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and public lewdness, misdemeanors. He was also cited for exposure of a person, a violation.

After arraignment at the Town of Patterson Justice Court, Fregoso was remanded to the Putnam County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. He is due to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Nov. 16 to answer the charges.
