DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury firefighters worked in frigid temperatures to knock down a large blaze in a home on Fleetwood Drive on late Sunday afternoon.

Flames were visible when firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire in a Cape-style home at 12 Fleetwood Drive after 4:30 p.m., according to the News-Times.

"Rough fire tonight on Fleetwood Drive," Mayor Mark Boughton said via Twitter @MayorMark. "Thankfully no one was hurt. Great work by Danbury Fire Department."

Photos from Boughton showed the fire had burned through the roof of the home, which sustained heavy damage.

Two occupants of the home, owned by retired Danbury Fire Department EMS Coordinator Mike Esposito, evacuated safely, the News-Times said. Esposito is also a member of the Danbury City Council.

Two nearby hydrants were frozen — the temperature was about 6 degrees at the time — but firefighters found a working hydrant near Shelter Rock School, Danbury Assistant Fire Chief Mark Omasta told the News-Times.
