Two Danbury residents were busted for dealing drugs after police received complaints of illegal drug activity in the area.

Oliver Joan Ubiera and Daritza Rivera-Nunez were arrested Thursday by Danbury Police for a variety of drug-related offenses during the execution of a search warrant of their home and cars, said Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

Williams said the search was initiated after investigators received citizen complaints regarding Ubiera’s illegal activity. Based on a further investigation, which revealed activity consistent with drug trafficking, the superior court issued search warrants.

The bust went down around 6:30 p.m. Thursday when investigators from the Special Investigations Division, Community Conditions Unit and Patrol took Ubiera in custody after he entered his car, which was parked in front of his residence, Williams said.

During his apprehension, he was seen stuffing suspected drugs into his waistband and was subsequently arrested.

When investigators proceeded to his residence, they located Rivera-Nunez in a second-floor bedroom, which she shared with Ubiera. As a result of a search of the residence, a substantial quantity of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and heroin was seized. Also seized were assorted drug paraphernalia and several hundred dollars in cash, he added.

During processing, Ubiera was found to be a convicted felon that was previously deported to the Dominican Republic. Evidently, he illegally returned to the United States to continue with his illegal activities, Williams said.

Both are being held on numerous counts of drug possession, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and other charges. They are being held on $250,000 bond each.
