Police said they were summoned by a Danbury woman claiming that the suspect, Paul Arbitelle, had shown up drunk at her house on Fairview Drive in the city and had gotten into a fight with her husband.

The woman told police that the 42-year-old had yelled at her spouse and had taken a swing at him before stalking off.

When police arrived, they spotted the shirtless, tattooed suspect outside the residence.

When they approached him, they said he became agitated and took “a fighting stance.”

While he was being handcuffed, Arbitelle struggled with the officers, tried to bite one of them, and kicked another, police said.

He was finally subdued and hauled off in a prisoner transport van to the police station.

Arbitelle now faces charges of second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, assaulting public safety personnel and second-degree threatening.

While at police headquarters, authorities said Arbitelle refused to be processed.

He was then slapped with additional charges, namely: failure to comply with a fingerprint request.

Arbitelle was held on $50,000 bond.

In 2011, Arbitelle was sentenced to one year in jail for what police called a racially motivated assault in 2010, according to a report by the Danbury News-Times.

In 2012, he was charged with assaulting two police officers who had arrested him after a disturbance at an Ives Street tavern, the Danbury News-Times story said.

According to the Danbury News-Times, Arbitelle threatened the officers and kicked out the window of a police cruiser taking him in for arraignment.
