Missing CT Driver Killed By Tractor-Trailer On Route 80 In Saddle Brook

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- A 63-year-old Connecticut woman reported missing last week was killed when her car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on westbound Route 80 in Saddle Brook overnight Wednesday, State Police said.

Laura Russo of Plainfield was driving a Hyundai Accent when it was hit by a Kenworth tractor-trailer at milepost 61.9, near the Garden State Parkway, just after 2:30 a.m., Trooper Lawrence Peel told Daily Voice.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

No summonses were immediately issued.

An investigation was continuing, Peel said.

The westbound highway was closed for about three hours after the crash, he said.

A Silver Alert was issued for Russo after authorities in Connecticut said she went missing Friday.
