Police Identify Danbury Man Killed In Head-On Crash In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. -- A 68-year-old Danbury man was killed after a head-on crash on Route 7 in Wilton on Wednesday night.

Police said that the crash occurred just before 8:30 p.m. in the southbound lane of Route 7 near the intersection of Old Mill Road. A Toyota Carolloa driven by 68-year-old George A. Najam of Danbury collided head on with a Toyota Sienna driven by 48-year-old Gloria Jimenez-Aviles, police said.

Officers responding to the scene found Najam in his car without a pulse. He was extricated from the car and life-saving efforts were employed, police said. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where he later died.

Jimenez-Avilez suffered a non-life threatening leg injury and was taken to Danbury Hospital, where she was later released, police said.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Wilton Police Crash Reconstruction Team.
