State Police Step Up DUI Patrols In Fairfield County Over Holiday Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut State Police will increase patrols and hold checkpoints to deter people from driving drunk and encourage safety over the holiday weekend.

Additional troopers will conduct roving patrols on I-95 and Routes 15, 8, 25 and 7 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. from Friday, Dec. 29 through Monday, Jan. 1. 

Troop G - Bridgeport will also conduct a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint on Saturday, Dec. 30 in the area of the I-91 northbound/southbound exit 3 off-ramp in New Haven. The checkpoint will be held from 6 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday in an effort to identify and apprehend intoxicated drivers.

State police are asking residents to combine planning with sensible driving to ensure that everyone has a safe holiday. Obey all traffic laws, plan trips with care, and never consume drugs or alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
