Stratford Man Nabbed For Dwai In New York

A pair of local motorists are among four facing misdemeanor charges after being busted by state police for driving while intoxicated in the tri-state area.

Stratford, Conn. resident Stanley Charles, 37, was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs by New York State Police troopers in Monroe after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 17. During the traffic stop, it was determined that he was impaired by drugs and he was arrested.

Pine Bush resident Tristen Smith, 39, was busted by state police on North Plank Road in Newburgh on Wednesday morning for committing a vehicle and traffic law violation. During the subsequent stop, it was determined that she was driving while impaired by alcohol and she was also arrested.

Other arrests were made by state police in Kingston and Blooming Grove. Each of the drivers was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and have since been released to sober parties. Each is due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
