Police said they began an investigation several weeks ago after receiving complaints that 37-year-old Hennessy Taveras and 27-year-old Sara Sasso were selling illegal drugs out of their apartment and at various locations throughout Danbury. During the course of their investigation, police said they detected activity consistent with drug trafficking, and were granted search and seizure warrants for their apartment and their persons.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, police were conducting surveillance on Belmont Circle and saw Taveras and Sasso drive from their home to meet with a 33-year-old Danbury woman, who police believed had purchased drugs from the pair. After the woman got out of the car driven by Taveras and Sasso, the three were allowed to separate, but were later stopped by police.

Police said that after a search, Taveras and Sasso were found to be in possession of cocaine and were arrested. The woman they met with was also in possession of drugs and placed under arrest. When investigators searched the Belmont Circle apartment, they found more drugs and drug evidence, according to police.

Taveras and Sasso were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. They were both held on $50,000 bonds. The woman they met with was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on a promise to appear in court.
