Bethel High School's Class Of 2016 Graduates Friday

BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel High School will bid farewell to the Class of 2016 Friday when it holds its annual graduation ceremony.

The commencement ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the O'Neill Center on the westside campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. 

The Class of 2016 valedictorian is Kendall Meenan and the salutatorian is Victoria Palmer. The graduating class is comprised of about 250 students. The class president is Amanda Nunes, vice president is Sara Rockmacher and secretary is Erin Belcourt.

Principal Chris Troetti will be the main speaker. Additionally Michael Shanley, a classmate who died unexpectedly in May of 2015, will receive an honorary degree.

Seven Bethel High School seniors in the Navy Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps also received college scholarships representing more than $1 million, with students receiving full tuition assistance to attend Yale University, Ohio State University and Boston University.

Bethel High School students recently connected with younger students by marching in their caps and gowns during parades at local elementary schools.

The O'Neill Center is located at 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.
