As a result, there is an ever-increasing demand for skilled cyber professionals. Naugatuck Valley Community College is responding to this need with a new degree program that offers students a strong foundation in understanding the investigative nature of cybersecurity in the criminal justice realm, as well as gaining technical skills in computer science networking and programming.

The program prepares students for entry level positions in cybersecurity and computer crime deterrence. It also prepares students for successful transfer to other institutions of higher education, including Charter Oak State College’s cybersecurity bachelor’s degree program.

The overall outlook for cybersecurity careers in Connecticut is strong. The Connecticut Department of Labor projects demand in computer science to increase by 17.4 percent between the 2016 and 2022.
