Weekend Showers Possible As Heat Wave Ends In Bethel, Newtown

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — At least the heat wave has ended across Fairfield County. And though the sun may be out where you are, there's a 50 percent chance of rain for Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will top out at about 80 degrees under partly sunny skies on Saturday across Fairfield County. But there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. 

A chance of showers and thunderstorms continues into Saturday evening as more clouds come in and temperatures drop into the high 60s. 

On Sunday, there's a 60 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms and heavy rain also possible. It will be cloudy, with a high in the upper 70s. 

Temperatures look to be about 80 degrees as August begins, a far cry from the highs of over 90 that have sizzled across the area for the past week.
