FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- There is a chance of a wintry mix hitting Fairfield County ahead of what will be a wet weekend, and the area could see some snow on Christmas morning.

Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 36, according to the National Weather Service. Wind chill values will be between 25 and 30. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 23, and light and variable wind.

On Friday there is a slight chance of snow and sleet between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a chance of rain. Otherwise the day will be cloudy, with a high near 37 and wind chill values between 20 and 30. Friday night will see rain, mainly after midnight. The temperature is expected to rise to around 42 by 3 a.m.

It will be rainy on Saturday, with a patchy fog after noon. The temperature will remain steady at around 44. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent, with new precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Rain is likely on Saturday night, with patchy fog before 9 p.m. Otherwise, the night will be cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy. The low will be around 32.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 40. There is a chance of rain, snow and sleet before midnight, then a mix of rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. The low will be around 29.

Christmas Day will see a 50 percent chance of snow showers before noon. The rest of the day will be partly sunny, with a high near 37. Monday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 16.
