Sheila Torgan and Bonnie Tyler have found a solution for the mundane task of peeling a boiled egg with a product they have dubbed The Negg™ Maker.
"Our goal was to take a tedious chore and make it simple and fun." "I was delighted to hear arguments from the grandchildren as to who could try it next." said Tyler. "I felt it was the Tom Sawyer approach to getting a chore done."
Torgan and Tyler are passionate about keeping the manufacturing in the USA. "It's important to both of us not to send our money overseas," they said. "We live in a great country, and want to keep the jobs at home."
They have decided to use Kickstarter, an Internet crowd funding company, to help get this device from the drawing board to the kitchen.
Manufacturing is the next hurdle, Tyler said. “We have used 3D printers to build our prototypes, and have tested many iterations. Many boiled eggs later, we have it, the right recipe, and the proper device."
Crowd funding will allow them to see whether there is enough interest in such a device to make it worthwhile.
"Personally, I haven't found anyone that doesn't hate peeling eggs," said Torgan, "but we really need to test the market and Kickstarter.com will allow us to do just that."

With about 20 days to go on the Kickstarter campaign, they have raised nearly $11,000 from 200 backers.
