NEWTOWN, Conn. — There's a new place to dine in town, with the grand opening this weekend of Market Place Kitchen & Bar Newtown.
It's the newest location for the Market Place Hospitality group, which also operates a sister location on Mill Plain Road in Danbury.
The grand opening of the Newtown location will be this Friday, Dec. 1.
The restaurant, which will be open to the public for dinner, is located at The Village at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road, Newtown.
Market Place Kitchen & Bar is 100 percent locally owned and operated — it also has locations in Avon and Woodbury. It is committed to sourcing local ingredients and working with local farmers.
“We are delighted and honored to be a local business supporting local farms," Managing Partner Eli Hawli says. "As our Market Place family continues to grow, we will continue to provide the same quality of craft cocktails and chef-driven cuisine, which we know all of our wonderful customers want and expect from us.”
Executive Chef Alex Lowe joined Market Hospitality Group in 2013 as sous chef of Market Place Kitchen & Bar in Danbury. He quickly advanced and became executive chef in 2014.
For the past four years, Lowe has shown his passion for cooking with each menu, special and dish he has created. He will now be sharing his culinary skills as the executive chef at the newest location, Market Place Kitchen & Bar in Newtown.
The menu will feature classic local cuisine and a menu that changes with the seasons. Chef-driven entrees will include Pear & Gorgonzola Ravioli (with roasted butternut squash, cipollini onions, maple walnut brown butter sauce, crispy sage), and four-hour braised “Allen Brother’s” short ribs (with roasted cauliflower, whipped potatoes, crispy Brussels, and rosemary demi-glace).
Family-friendly, the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner starting this week (dinner only Dec. 1 to 3). Call 203-491-2993 for more information or to place a reservation.
Market Place Kitchen and Bar celebrates and encourages local, organic, and sustainably harvested food. The inventive menu is inspired by, and changes with, the bounty of the season. For more information and other locations, visit markethospitalitygroup.com .
