DANBURY, Conn. -- The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut in Danbury will offer 10 events and 10 workshops this year in honor of its 10th anniversary.
"Since the traditional gift for a 10th anniversary is tin, we're already looking to invite visual artists to create tin centerpieces for this year's Business Supports the Arts awards breakfast," said Lisa Scails, executive director of the organization. "It's a banner year, but a banner year also means the Cultural Alliance must take stock of its successes and build a new, vibrant, and purposeful next ten years."
The following events and information sessions will be at @287 Gallery and Meeting Place:
- Feb. 25: State Arts Grants 2017 Information Session at 1 p.m.
- March 3: A Downtown Danbury Merchant Mixer at 5:30 p.m.
- March 17: Art in Public Spaces Information Session at 1 p.m.
- April 14: Making Great Art News! at 1 p.m.
The alliance also will co-sponsor the inaugural Ives Fine Arts and Crafts Festival and participate in Connecticut Open House Day in June.
Impact Arts Collection with Works by Frank Kara will be exhibited at @287 Gallery and Meeting Place through April 15.
The alliance also will participate in Fairfield County's Community Foundation Giving Day March 10.
The 10th birthday will be formally celebrated at the Business Supports the Arts awards breakfast Oct. 20.
The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut promotes the arts, history and culture in Danbury, Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman.
