The training is designed to boost the capacity of local nonprofit agencies by providing training for potential board members and for nonprofits in need of additional board members.

The training will take place Friday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Northern Trust, 300 Atlantic St., Stamford. The fee is $100 per participant.

At the completion of this session, board candidates will have the opportunity to hear from a cross-section of social service nonprofit organizations about the work they are doing and the needs they have on their boards.

“Board service is a wonderful way to engage in our community and to strengthen organizations that are doing such important work in our own neighborhoods,” said Kim Morgan, chief executive officer of United Way of Western Connecticut.

Training board member candidates in nonprofit governance and actively preparing nonprofits to recruit, engage, and utilize new board members are integral components of our BoardServe Western CT program.

BoardServe Western CT is made possible in part through support from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.
