So it's not surprise there have been plenty of visits by celebrities since the restaurant was founded in 1925 by Frank Pepe, who immigrated to New Haven by Italian's Amalfi Coast at age 16.

Two well-known Hollywood actors have stopped by for the restaurant's trademark thin-crust pies this month.

This past Saturday, Paul Giamatti visited the New Haven store. Giamatti is best known for his breakout role of Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton in "Private Parts" as well as Sergeant Hill in "Saving Private Ryan" and Bob Zmuda in "Man on the Moon."

It's pretty safe to say it was not the first time Giamatti enjoyed a white clam pie. The 51-year-old, after all, is a native of New Haven and graduate of Yale. He's the son of former Yale University President and Major League Baseball Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti.

Earlier this month, on Thursday, Sept. 6, Dan Lauria of "Wonder Years" game stopped by the New Haven restaurant.

Lauria, 71, is also well-acquainted with Frank Pepe's.

After playing varsity football on Long Island, the Brooklyn native attended Southern Connecticut State University on a football scholarship. He went on to work at his alma mater, Lindenhurst High School, as a phys-ed teacher.

Frank Pepe's Fairfield County locations are in Fairfield and Danbury. Pepe's also has a restaurant in Westchester, in Yonkers, as well as six other locations, in addition to New Haven.
