FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — In case you missed it, here are the top stories of the past week in Fairfield County, as reported by Daily Voice.

Fans of the fast-food eatery Chick-Fil-A lined up early and camped out at the chain's newest location in Norwalk. The first 100 won free food for a year as crowds turned out to enjoy the new restaurant.

The fourth time’s a charm for former WPKN-FM radio host Fran Fried, who had a quartet of auditions before she finally snagged a spot as a contestant on TV’s “Jeopardy!” Fried, who is only the third transgender contestant ever to pick up a buzzer on the game show, appeared last week in an episode with a thrilling finish .

Auto shop teacher Roxanne Montarro Amiot, the first woman to graduate from Bullard-Havens Technical High School in that field, is a finalist in a national competition. The prize in the contest — the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence — is $100,000.

What if Halloween were always on a Saturday? The dream is real for Star 99.9’s Anna and Raven Show, which has posted a petition to create “Trick or Treat Day” on the last Saturday of October, ensuring children don’t go door-knocking on a school night. The DJs plan to deliver their petition to the Connecticut State House and Gov. Dan Malloy. See the petition here .

A 20-year-old Fairfield University student said she was raped in a townhouse on campus last weekend, but she refused to identify the suspect to police or hospital workers or to press charges, police said.

Deon Rodney, a barber at Just Right Cutz barbershop in Bridgeport, was shot to death while trying to protect his customers as well as the shooter's intended target, police said. The community is rallying to help the hero's family with a GoFundMe.

Match Burger Lobster, from Matt Storch , the celebrated chef behind Norwalk's Match and Bridgeport's Nom-eez, is now open. The casual spot, attached to Fleishers Craft Butchery, is a new concept that offers a whimsical menu that is meant to please those ages 2 to 102.

Pamela Graham starts her day at 3:30 a.m. —  preparing fresh sourdough bread, muffins, cookies, and croissants. By the time the doors open at 7:30 a.m., brewing coffee and the buttery smell of freshly baked bread permeate the air at the Pastry Hideaway in Wilton.
