The math teacher of seventh-graders used the zip-ties like handcuffs so a student could be confined to a desk, school officials told the News-Times.
School Superintendent Alicia Roy told the News-Times that the district followed procedures and reported the incident to the appropriate authorities. She said the teacher had tried to be humorous, and that no students were ever at risk, according to the News-Times.
Roy did not reveal when the teacher's resignation would be in effect, according to the News-Times.
