NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown residents went online in droves to express what they would like to see in a new community center for the town, according to the News-Times .

More than 3,400 people filled out the online survey in a town of 28,000. Ideas and wishes for the center included everything from a pool to an ice rink, but most importantly, they wanted a place for all ages, reported the News-Times.

The Community Center Commission will meet Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Newtown Municipal Center to discuss survey results and decide what steps to take before making their recommendation to the Board of Selectmen, added the News-Times.

The community center will be built with part of the $15 million gift General Electric made to the town after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in 2012, said the News-Times.

In the survey, residents were asked to rank different options and to make suggestions, added the News-Times.
