Newtown Shelter Waives Adoption Fees To Help Cats Find Homes

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- In an effort to reduce the number of cats at its Fairfield Hills animal shelter, Newtown is waving its feline adoption fees, the Newtown Bee reports.

The surplus of cats came about because of an animal cruelty case on Town’s End Road that resulted in the state Department of Agriculture seizing more than 30 of the animals, the Bee reports.

The shelter is designed only to hold eight cats, according to the Bee.
