BETHEL, Conn. -- The death of the man who shot and nearly killed him 29 years ago has brought peace to a former Bethel police officer, according to a report in newstimes.com.

Kenneth Ruggles, who shot Bethel Officer Michael Daubert in 1986, died last week in a psychiatric hospital in Middletown, newstimes reported.

Ruggles had been a patient at Connecticut Valley Hospital since being found not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting of Daubert, who was 21 at the time and survived a 10-hour surgery, according to newstimes.com.
