DUI Motorist Who Failed To Maintain Lane Caught With Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, State Police Say

An early morning traffic stop led to a host of charges for a man who was busted by Connecticut State Police troopers with heroin, cocaine and other drugs in his car.

Troopers stopped Middletown resident Austin Dwight Rhinehart, 28, shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, after he was spotted driving erratically on Route 9 in Chester. Police said that his vehicle was found swerving in and out of its lane at the time of the stop.

Rhinehart went on to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and he was found in possession of heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence, sale of more than an ounce of narcotics, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of more than a half ounce of cocaine.

Following his arraignment, Rhinehart was released on $1,000 bond. He is due to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Aug. 22 to answer the charges.
