Police were told by a Macy’s manager that the employee was trying to handcuff one of the suspects, 26-year-old Douglas Rollman of Mahopac, N.Y., when a struggle ensued.
The second suspect, 21-year-old Gina Pecchia of Wingdale N.Y., began to choke the employee, police said.
Rollman then kicked the employee in the stomach and ran off, police said.
Pecchia also broke free and fled, police said.
Police said Rollman was still wearing the cuffs on one of his wrists when he and Pecchia were tracked to the parking garage and arrested.
A pair of men’s jeans, worth $46.99, was recovered, police said.
Rollman was charged with breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy of larceny; third-degree robbery; sixth-degree conspiracy of robbery; and third-degree assault.
He was held on $25,000 bond.
Pecchia was charged with breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy of larceny, third-degree robbery, sixth-degree conspiracy of larceny; third-degree assault, and third-degree strangulation.
She was held on $25,000 bond.
