Man Charged With Breach Of Peace During Bethel-Bristol Basketball Game

BETHEL, Conn. — Police from Bethel, Danbury and Newtown responded to calls Friday that a high school boys basketball game between Bethel Wildcats and Bristol Rams was turning into a melee, reports newtimes.com.

One man was arrested on charges of interfering with police while they were escorting girls out of the Bethel High gym who tried to start a fight as the crowd became unruly, reports newtimes.com. He was reportedly the father of one of the girls, the newstimes.com said.

Robert Hickey, 44, of Bristol, was charged with interfering with officers and breach of peace, and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Danbury March 15, reports newtimes.com.

In the game, Bethel High beat Bristol Central High, 49-48.
