NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown's new police chief, James Viadero, aims to strengthen the relationship between his officers and the community and make the agency more transparent, according to the News-Times.
He plans to achieve his goal by introducing "progressive police practices," the News-Times reported.
Viadero reportedly will attend public events, meet with residents and business owners and make himself publicly available, said the News-Times.
Viadero was sworn in earlier this month to replace retiring chief Michael Kehoe.
