State Police To Set Up DUI Checkpoint In Danbury, Increase Patrols On I-84

DANBURY, Conn. -- In an attempt to ensure a safe Fourth of July holiday, state troopers will be concentrating their enforcement efforts on intoxicated motorists, along with aggressive and distracted driving, throughout the weekend.

Troop A will have additional troopers on duty for motor vehicle enforcement and will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Danbury as part of the Connecticut State Police’s expanded DUI enforcement initiative, funded through a grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation’s DUI Enforcement Program.

The campaign will include roving enforcement throughout the Greater Danbury and Waterbury area on Interstate 84, Routes 7 and 8 in the Troop A patrol area, on Thursday between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

In addition, troopers will conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint at the Lake Avenue Extension entrance ramp (4 Entrance Ramp) to Interstate 84 East in Danbury on July 1 and 3, between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., and on July 2, between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.
