More than 500 students in Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties participated in the four-state contest, which AAA Northeast conducts annually to generate a greater awareness of safe traffic practices among elementary and high school students.

Second- and third-place category winners included Darius Daniel and Taylor Jenson, respectively, both juniors at Platt Technical High School in Milford. They won for their posters, also illustrating distracted driving themes. They both received plaques and $200 and $100 checks, respectively.
