The stretch of southbound I-684 that was closed for nearly 15 hours has now reopened.

Department of Transportation workers removed the Katonah/Cross River overhead sign severely damaged when a pickup truck crashed into a support structure early Sunday morning.

Update, 7 p.m.

A stretch of southbound I-684 remains closed as work is being done to remove a sign and its supporting structure following an early morning crash involving a pickup truck.

The crane arrived around 4 p.m. Sunday, state police said. There is no estimated time for the work to be completed, police said.

The pickup truck crashed into the structure supporting the sign for the Katonah/Cross River exit, resulting in the closure of I-684 stretching back to Hardscrabble Road in North Salem throughout the day.

Entrance ramps for Exit 6A, Exit 7 and Exit 8 are closed in conjunction with the roadway closure.

A stretch of southbound I-684 remains closed early Sunday afternoon after a pickup truck crashed into a structure that supported a sign for the Katonah/Cross River exit.

The Department of Transportation is awaiting a crane to remove the structure.

The closure, on the southbound side, stretches back to Hardscrabble Road (Exit 8) near the Putnam border.

Southbound traffic is being detoured at Exit 8 to Route 22 to Route 35 35 and back onto I-684.

A long stretch of Interstate 684 is closed Sunday morning following an early morning crash near the Saw Mill Parkway junction.

The closure, on the southbound side, stretches back to Hardscrabble Road (Exit 8) near the Putnam border.

The crash involved a vehicle that struck an overhead sign structure, state police said, adding that the estimated time for lanes reopening is uncertain.

Southbound traffic is being detoured at Exit 8 to Route 22 to Route 35 35 and back onto I-684.
