Showers And Thunderstorms Could Hit Newtown This Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County will enjoy spring-like temperatures Friday afternoon before rain moves in during the evening.

Temperatures will hit the mid 60s on Friday, more than 20 degrees above the average for February. Isolated showers move in after midnight, and there will also be areas of fog developing around 9 p.m., according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers on Saturday, mainly after noon. The forecast calls for highs in the mid to high 50s with a light southeast wind increasing to 5-10 mph in the morning. 

The showers will stick around Saturday night and temperatures will dip into the mid 30s. There is also a chance of thunderstorms. Wind gusts could reach nearly 25 mph. 

Sunday's forecast calls for sunny skies with highs in the low 40s. It also could be windy, with gusts forecast up to 25 mph. Monday is expected to be mostly sunny, while the extended outlook calls for showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
