Daily Voice Leaders: James Heus, Head Of School At Ridgefield Academy RIDEFIELD, Conn. — With children entering its programs as early as age 2, Ridgefield Academy students quickly become happy members of an engaged learning community. “Our kids are all in — very few of them just leave promptly at 3 o’clock,” Head of School James Heus said, adding that most of his students participate in after-school activities. “They find reasons to stay and remain engaged in school.” The school, which is located on a former estate, offers a sprawling 42-acre hillside campus and small classes. Bridgeport Teen Plans To Learn Outside The Classroom During Gap Year BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — International travel and service run in Tara Boyd’s family. Tara’s older sister, Taylor, volunteered in Thailand and South Africa — thousands of miles from the family’s home in Bridgeport. So after graduating from Lauralton Hall in Milford, Tara decided she wanted to spend a gap year abroad. New Greenwich High School Music Classrooms Nearing Completion GREENWICH, Conn. — The new music classrooms under construction on the footprint of the old Greenwich High School auditorium are almost done. The new classrooms are part of a project that included a new 35,000-square-foot performing arts center. In March, crews were at work framing the new building, Daily Voice previously reported.

Black Lives Matter Rally Preparing To Step Off In Downtown Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford organization plans to hold a Black Lives Matter rally Monday night, a week after two black men were killed by police in separate incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota. The rally is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Stamford Government Center. But with support from the community, he’s now hosting one for the entire town. Man Intentionally Floods Westport Cell Block After His Arrest WESTPORT, Conn. — A 36-year-old Norwalk man intentionally flooded his jail cell after he was arrested by Westport police Tuesday on an outstanding warrant, police said. Westport officers responded to a Saugatuck Avenue residence on a report of a disturbance in progress early Tuesday morning. During their investigation, officers discovered that Carlos Gudino had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for a narcotics violation, police said.
